VMG (Vintage Marble Grading) was created to change that. We have developed a rigorous grading standard designed to bring clarity, consistency, and trust to the hobby.
As the first organization to address this untapped market, VMG provides a clearly defined grading and appraisal system built specifically for the unique characteristics of collectible marbles. Our standards establish a transparent benchmark that collectors can rely on, combining modern technology with experienced human evaluation.
Every marble graded by VMG undergoes a structured, three-step assessment process.
AI Microscopic Scan
Each marble is first scanned using an AI-powered microscope system. This process identifies flaws, fractures, and surface characteristics while measuring overall sheen on a 1–100 scale.
Expert Evaluation
The marble is then transferred to our dust-free viewing laboratory, where two independent experts evaluate it according to VMG grading standards.
Final Grade & Slabbing
The median grade from the two expert evaluations is applied. The marble is then sealed in one of our two VMG slab styles, preserving both its grade and condition.

Turnaround Time
Our standard processing turnaround is 3–4 weeks from the date of check-in.
Case Sealing & Security
VMG floating cases are sonically welded shut and sealed using custom serial-numbered security tape. The polycarbonate slabs are bonded with a Polybond agent rated to withstand up to 3,300 pounds of force, ensuring long-term durability and tamper resistance. Dimensions are 2.75”H x 2.75”W x 0.78”D.
